About the “Constitutional History of Malta” series

The first coin commemorates 1849, when elected representatives first took their seats on the Council of Government. This was followed by majority representation in 1887 (2012), self-government in 1921 (2013), independence in 1964 (2014), and the republic in 1974 (2015).

Mintage figures ranged from just over 400,000 to just over 540,000 pieces. This series was followed by the prehistoric sites and the From Children in Solidarity series.
