Andorra · 50th anniversary of the inauguration of the new Sanctuary of Meritxell

The available information does not contain any details about the occasion for issuing this Andorran 2-euro commemorative coin. Neither a motif nor a person, building, or historical event is mentioned. Therefore, the historical, cultural, or political context of the issue cannot be reliably explained.

The reason for selecting the occasion also cannot be determined without the relevant notice or the text of the EU Official Journal. Associating it with an anniversary, personality, or national event would be speculative. Once the official decision with the description of the coin motif is available, factual background information can be prepared from it.
